Overshooting an old 20″ steel casing, with a 21″ overshot. The old casing was not in the right place for the new elevator; it was about 18″ off center and 50′ deep. To fix the issue, we completed an elevator jack hole modification or relocation.
Often we can install a new jack hole in elevators with an existing cylinder in ground, so in most cases we do not need to remove the old steel casing and/or cylinder. Keeping the old steel casing and/or cylinder will help expedite the completion of your new elevator installation. Then it’s all left up to your elevator vendor as to what action to take or not!
